The Hand of Christ Extended...

This is such a great reminder from Kim!

At the present time your PLENTY will SUPPLY what they NEED, so that IN TURN their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be EQUALITY!!!!!!!!." 2 Corinthians 8: 14

Have you experienced this in your life? Where at times, you are the one who is able to give and/or help someone financially, Spiritually, emotionally, or physically, ..... but then, it is you who needs that help? God tells us in the above verse that sometimes our plenty will supply your needs and at another time, your plenty will supply our needs! In that way, there will be equality!!!!

There is a time for everything! A time to give and a time to receive!!! God has encouraged us to help each other in their time of need so that we can all be EQUAL!! He is SO WISE!!!!

Our Heavenly Teacher repeatedly asks us to be vessels for Him to help His Children!!! Are we willing to give Him our time so He can help and encourage those in need?
Do we see the neglected?
Do we hear the bells from the Salvation Army?
Do we notice the tears of a stranger or loved one?
Do we look for ways to display His Love?

Abba Father, we THANK YOU for Your Wise Words concerning giving and receiving! We go through many different chapters in our life, sometimes we are in the position to give more (of our time, talents, and monies) than at other times.
When we have more than we need, please keep our eyes and hearts open to where we can help!
When we have less, please help us to be an encouragement in other ways and to gratefully receive the help offered to us!

Personally Father, I see You in the precious faces that have faithfully been helping me during my time of need! These vessels of Yours are giving of their valuable time to help one of Your own! They represent You so well Father! They are cheerful, always willing to be of service, never complaining, very loving, and making their help to me look effortless!!! I can only say Father that I SEE YOU, because ONLY YOU could be so loving and giving over and over and over again!!! Thank You for Your encouragement to do the right thing through these extra special vessels of Yours!!! I only pray Father, as Your Word tells us today, "then there will be equality" that I will be in the position to show them the same unconditional love they are showing me!!!!!

Be careful!

So important. Beware of people that leave fractured relationships in their wake! Divisions, strife... beware of people that do not seek peace and ensue it. A great reminder from Kim.

"I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people." Romans 16:17-18

Whoa, these are serious warnings! Another reason for us to be in the Word each day- we need to know what it teaches us so we are aware when someone is leading us in the wrong direction! There are some very crafty, misleading people out there!! Psychics, fortune tellers, people who gossip, others who preach against God and His Truth, ... they cause division amongst us and confusion in what we believe!!

God warns us to be careful of their "smooth talk and flattery" because we can be easily swayed from the Truth and our Salvation!!! These people are not serving our Lord and we need to be watchful and guarded not to become entrapped by their ways!

Father God, we are so naive at times and we need Your Wisdom to tell the difference between those who seek You and those who seek to serve themselves! Help us to be aware of the evil one and those he is influencing!

Godly Sorrow

Thanks to Kim for this study...

"Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death." 2 Corinthians 7: 10

Godly Sorrow versus Worldly Sorrow!

Godly sorrow is being TRULY SORRY for what we have done or said,
...and if given the opportunity to do it all over again, we would NOT repeat it,
...it is choosing to change our ways even when no one is looking!!

As the Study Bible notes say, "Worldly sorrow is self-centered sorrow over the painful consequences of sin!"
... Worldly sorrow means we are only sorry that we were caught doing something,
... it is for others to see we are sorry,
... worldly sorrow brings death!

Are we repentant? Changing the way we live? Or are we upset that we got caught? God knows our heart and forgives us when we have Godly Sorrow! What a RELIEF!!!! What FREEDOM!!! As the verse says, NO REGRETS! PLUS, with this forgiveness we are able to have Eternal Life!!!

Abba Father, Your forgiveness gives us an INNER PEACE that this world CANNOT PROVIDE!! We are SO THANKFUL!! Please REVEAL to us Father areas in our life that need to be changed. Please give us the strength and desire to change these areas we may not be ready to give up!

We never want to do something that is against Your Word Father, just to please ourselves! Please grant us a new heart willing and desiring Your good and perfect will!!

Giving til it feels GOOD!

One of my favorite verses expounded by Kim...  Thanks Kim for the SUPER reminder!

"Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing Joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints." 2 Corinthians 8: 2-4

Don't you find that to be true? Those who have less tend to be more giving?

And, this verse isn't just talking about having a little less than others, but "their EXTREME poverty welled up in rich generosity." Out of their extreme poverty they gave richly, from the heart!! They gave of themselves!!!! Wow, what a lesson we can learn, what an eye opener!! We hold on so tightly to what we have we can hardly pry our fingers loose!
How sad! How very sad that we don't want to take away from ourselves!!
The more we have, the more we want! The more we have, the more attached we become to our stuff!

These verses also aren't just talking about those in extreme poverty either, but those going through hard times and severe trials.
These suppressed people were giving out of their
OVERFLOWING JOY for the Lord!!!!!

Another reminder for us today, suffering brings JOY!!! When we are at our lowest...
... we can turn to the One who gives us Hope when things look hopeless,
... the One who gives us Peace during turmoil,
... the One who gives us Comfort during devastating times,
... the One who continually lavishes us with His Unconditional Love, when we feel
all alone!!!!!

We are able to be JOYFUL and GENEROUS whatever we are going through!!!
All Praise, Honor and Glory are His, for ALL He has done for us and for ALL that He is!

Father God, You have shared with us once again what is truly most valuable in our lives- Your Deep, Unconditional, and Passionate Love for us!!! Help us not get entrapped by stuff Father but by Your Children and their needs! Help us to share Your Breathtaking Love with them!

Even during the financial crisis going on, we may not have as much monetarily as we did last year but we still have much more than the majority of the people in the world! Help us to remember Father,... "Freely you have received, Freely Give!!!" (Matthew 10: 8b) As today's verses say, they richly gave from their extreme poverty and out of their severe trials! Help us to do the same!!!!

Father, please continue to be with and supply extra comfort to those experiencing painful memories during this beautiful, but emotional, time of the year! May they find their JOY and Peace in You!!!

Turn it around!

Great reminder from Kim!

"He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need."
Ephesians 4: 28

It is good for us to work! To do something useful with our hands! We were created in God's image and He worked (created) for 6 days and then rested. Let us use Him as our example, create and rest!!

We were not cursed to work (after the fall in the garden), the ground was cursed! Our work just takes a little more effort! We get to work, we get to create, we get to use our imagination, we get to serve others, we get to play,...... then it is time to rest!!!

The Study Bible interprets this verse, "It is not enough to cease from sin (this verse refers to stealing, but we are all sinning in way or another); one must do good. The former thief (sinner) must now help those in need."

God not only asks us to STOP doing what is wrong, but to go a step further, start doing something constructive and helping those less fortunate.

Our Heavenly King, we may never have thought we would say this, but, we Thank You for work! Work is good for us! Work is a privilege!
You are so wise Father,
You know that WORK and GIVING to others gives us a sense of purpose!
It is also a huge help and support to those in need!
It helps us to be constructive and creative with our hands and minds!

Thank You for Your insight Lord! Help us to be thankful for this privilege and Joyfully head out to work today and everyday!

Please Forgive us Father for our sins, the things that go against Your Truths! May we turn to You for the only strength that will help us to do what is right and beautiful!!

Rejoice

Another great word from Kim:

"Rejoice in the Lord always! I will say it again: REJOICE!" Philippians 4: 4

Let us REJOICE!!! Let us CELEBRATE!!! Let us PARTY together in the Lord!! Now these are words to pick us up today! In the midst of our pain, hurts, problems and sufferings let us Celebrate in the Lord!!! What Joy and Peace He offers us!
What Love He unconditionally pours over us!
What HOPE He gives us that things WILL get better!

"Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I WILL REJOICE IN THE LORD,,
I will BE JOYFUL in God my Savior." Habakkuk 3: 17-18

"Consider it PURE JOY, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds" James 1:2

"But REJOICE that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be OVERJOYED when His Glory is revealed." 1 Peter 4: 13

Thankfully, we do not have to live for this world, a life filled with disappointment and struggles, but we have a GLORIOUS FUTURE up ahead!! Thank You Father for that PROMISE!!!

Our Stronghold, we are so weak and the sufferings this side of the clouds are so Overwhelming! Thankfully, we have Someone who is stronger than this world and all it can throw at us! You have conquered it all!! Alright then, with Your Strength...
... help us to continue in this walk set before us!
... help us to be Your light in a dark world!
... help us to swim in the fishbowl that everyone is watching,
... help us to heal and mend relationships, not tear them a part,
... to be Your Witness,
... help us to grow in Your Word,
... to be a servant of Yours and Your children,
... to learn to Love as You do,
... help us to be ready for Your return!

Father, this life can be so difficult, so physically and emotionally draining, we cannot be an effective light with our own energy. Please REPLENISH us with Your Energy, Your Enthusiasm, and Your Spirit!

God Is Response-able!

Great reminder from Kim!

"The Lord Himself goes BEFORE you and will be with you...." Deuteronomy 31: 8a

God is already there!!!!! Whew!!!! ALLELUIA!!!! He has already been through it! He has already worked it all out!!!! THANK YOU Lord that we are not in charge!!!
...not in charge of the future,
... not in charge of how our friends and family members respond to us,
... not in charge of finding a new job (when we've already done what we can),
... not in charge of how things will turn out after we've prayed and left in God's hands!

What a relief knowing I am not responsible for those around me! I can be concerned, I may even get hurt, but I am not in charge of anyone else's choices and free will! Whew!!

Abba Father, THANK YOU for being the One who will always be there to pick up the pieces of our life!! We make such a mess of them at times and it is such a relief to know that IF WE LET YOU, You will work all things out for good- one way or another!

You go BEFORE us, You know what is coming, You will be there to hold us up!
Thank You!

Withdraw From Every Disorderly Brother

Thanks to Kelly for the post!!!

from Rick Renner Ministries | PO Box 702040 | Tulsa | OK | 74170

Withdraw From Every Disorderly BrotherNow we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
- 2 Thessalonians 3:6

Many years ago Denise and I worked with a young man who was very skilled in music and who had a stage presence that was simply electrifying. However, in his personal life, things were completely out of order. Not only did he make a constant string of unwise decisions for himself, but those horrendous decisions were detrimentally affecting many people's lives.

As pastors, we saw what this man did; we heard about the effect his behavior was having on other people; and we counseled people who had been abused by him. But because he was so talented and had such a strong stage presence, people ignored his chronic bad behavior, overlooking it as if it were just a minor flaw in his life and revering him as someone "great."

After many months of prayer, I had a strong "knowing" from the Holy Spirit that this young man was headed for serious trouble. I met with him to discuss his future, but he ignored my advice and pressed onward with his destructive behavior. I was left with no choice but to call my young leadership team together and tell them, "I know that you love this man. But because he lives such a rebellious life, refuses to listen to anyone in authority, and keeps making such bad choices in his life, I am asking that you withdraw from him and stop investing your time and energy in that friendship."

What my young team didn't know was that this young man had gone so far off track, he had begun committing criminal actions. As a pastor, I couldn't divulge everything I knew, so I asked my leadership team to trust me and submit to me in this matter by withdrawing from any further fellowship with him. As difficult as it may have been for them to obey me, I was ordering them to break off their relationship with this young man who was belligerently headed for a major catastrophe. I was sure that if they stayed close to him, he would try to drag them into the crisis with him.

As time passed, our young leaders became exceedingly grateful that I had ordered them to break off their relationship with the young man. Eventually he violated international trade laws and got into such a dangerous situation with the Russian mafia that he went into hiding to keep himself from being murdered. But although he tried to hide, members of the mafia found him, kidnapped him, and held him until they were confident he had the funds to pay the debt he owed them. When he was finally released, he was black and blue from the multiple beatings he had suffered at their hands.

You would think that after experiencing such brutality, this young man would have learned to change his ways. But instead, he persisted in his rebellion to authority and continued to commit grossly wrong actions in his life.

Although this young man was a brother in the Lord, he had never learned to submit to authority and refused to listen to those who could help him. Apparently, the apostle Paul was also aware of people who were unruly and insubordinate in the city of Thessalonica. It is evident that he was disturbed by this problem, for when he wrote his second letter to the Thessalonians, he gave them a stern order: "Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us" (2 Thessalonians 3:6).

Notice that Paul says, "Now we command you." The word "command" is so strong in the Greek that it leaves no room for misunderstanding. It is the Greek word parangello, which means to order, to charge, or to give a command. All of Paul's readers would have understood that this was not a suggestion - it was a direct command.

Paul went on to tell them, "Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly." The word "withdraw" is the Greek word stello, which means to gather up, to pull together, to move oneself, or to withdraw.

In some ancient texts, it meant to shorten the sails or to pull in all the loose, flapping sails that would hindera ship from moving forward at maximum speed. In other places, the word stello was used to picture a runner pulling up the long, dangling ends of his robe so the loose ends wouldn't hinder him in a foot race.

When Paul used the word stello, the Thessalonians would have immediately understood that he was ordering them to make an inward resolution. He was ordering them to pull themselves together and get rid of all the loose ends that could hinder their spiritual walk, which would include withdrawing from any rebellious Christians who refused to get things right with the Lord. There is no doubt that Paul was explicitly ordering the Thessalonian believers to remove themselves from all such relationships that could adversely affect their own progress with the Lord.

In the next statement, Paul identified the exact group of rebellious believers he was talking about. He told them (and us), "Withdraw from every brother that walketh disorderly"

The words "walketh" is the Greek word peripateo. The word peripateo is very significant in this verse, for it means to walk about or to walk around, giving the impression of one who habitually live and functions in a certain way. By employing the use of this word, Paul indicated that he wasn't writing about a believer who makes an occasional mistake in his life; rather, he was categorically referring to those believers who habitually live in a "disorderly" manner.

The word "disorderly" is taken from the Greek word atakeo. The word atakeo was a military term that described a soldier who was out of rank or a soldier who was out of order. It carries the idea of one who is insubordinate or one who is disrespectful of those who have been placed in authority over him.

The word atakeo was also used in Greek society to portray individuals who refused to work and who lived off the goodwill of others. Apparently some of the rebellious people in Thessalonica refused to listen to the church leadership's command to get a job. Instead, they took advantage of the goodwill of Christians, "sponging off them" whenever they needed some money.

This scenario is very clear as you continue to read Second Thessalonians 3. The word atakeowas also used to depict people who meddled in other people's affairs. As in the case of the Thessalonians, these loafers had no jobs and therefore had lots of time to interfere in other people's business. Paul was so against this behavior that he ordered the believers of Thessalonica to withdraw from these habitual loafers.
Paul finished this verse by reminding them that such a chronic loafer was not living "after the tradition which he received of us." In the Greek text, the word "tradition" is the word paradidomi, a Greek word that means to personally deliver or to personally transmit something to someone. Paul had personally delivered instruction to the Thessalonians about living responsible lives. No one in Thessalonica could claim ignorance, for Paul had personally taught them. Those who continued to live in this fashion were simply ignoring his instructions. And rather than tolerate their behavior, Paul told them, "Enough is enough!"

When you take all these Greek word meanings into account, Second Thessalonians 3:6 could be interpreted to mean:

"Brothers, we give you this command in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Distance yourselves from every brother who routinely lives his life out of order - breaking ranks, violating authority, living the life of a maverick, and perpetually refusing to submit to anyone's authority. If you're already entangled with a brother like this, do whatever you must to get free of that relationship. It's time to tie up all the loose ends with this brother and to inwardly resolve that you are not going to spend time with him any longer. Although he's a brother, his actions are not in agreement with the teachings you learned from us."

Paul's command is very clear: Even though such brothers or sisters are related to us in Christ, we are not to have close fellowship with those who show disrespect for authority and who routinely live their lives out of order. When a believer lives in defiance of God's Word and God-established authority, we must inwardly resolve to back away so we don't put our stamp of approval on them by affiliating ourselves with them. Yes, we must continue to love them; nevertheless, there comes a time when we must disassociate from unrepentant, erring believers. As we do, we will help them realize they are wrong and protect our own testimony from being negatively affected.

In light of Paul's message in Second Thessalonians 3:6, what is God saying to you about your current friendships? Do you closely associate with any individuals who have no regard for the Word of God or respect for God-established authority? If so, do you have a good reason why you maintain an intimate relationship with them? Are these the kind of close friends you need? Could it be that you need to back away from the people in your life who are living in rebellion? Is it time to invest yourself in someone else who loves God's Word, who is submitted to authority, and who has a heart to prosper under the blessing of the local church?

My Prayer for Today
Lord, I ask You to help me truthfully examine my relationships to determine which of them are helping me and which are hindering me. If any of my relationships are with people who are disorderly or rebellious and unwilling to change, please give me the courage to follow the instructions of Your Word. Holy Spirit, I am depending on You to lead and guide me and to help me do exactly what Jesus wants me to do. I pray this in Jesus' name!

My Confession for Today
I confess that I carefully guard my life by closely affiliating with people who love God's Word, respect God-established authority, and act as positive influences in my life. I do not allow myself to be dragged into relationships with people who refuse to seriously walk with God. Those who could negatively influence me are not the people I choose to be my closest friends. Nothing in the world is more important than my walk with God. Since those who are close to me have a tremendous influence on my life, I choose friends who, like me, make their walk with God their greatest priority. I declare this by faith in Jesus' name!

Questions for You to Consider
1.Have you ever maintained close relationships with people who you knew were not good for your spiritual life? Were you negatively affected by this close affiliation as a result?
2. Can you think of someone in your life who is associating too closely with people who have the potential of negatively influencing his or her life? Have you expressed your heartfelt concerns to this person?
3.Have you spent time in prayer, asking God to resolve this situation? If not, why don't you take a few minutes right now to ask the Lord to work in this situation as He protects your friend or relative from the potential harm you foresee?

Overflow or Outward Show???

Great note from Kim...

"When the men were returning home after David had killed the Phillistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with tambourines and lutes. As they danced, they sang:
'Saul has slain his thousands,
and David his tens of thousands.'
Saul was very angry; this refrain galled him. 'They have credited David with tens of thousands,' he thought, 'but me with only thousands. What more can he get but the kingdom?' And from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David."
1Samuel 18: 6-9

Saul wanted the credit and praise! How dare they sing David's name alongside his own- he was King! He wanted the women singing to acknowledge him and him alone or at least to admit he was the more powerful one!! What would people think? Would they want David as their king?

Why do we do what we do? Do we want the credit and praise?
Why do we give to the church? Do we want everyone to know how giving we are?
Why do we feed the hungry or clothe the poor? Do we want to look good to others?
Why do we give to fundraisers? Or send cards to people? To make sure everyone likes
us?
Are we concerned that we be seen as better than the next person?
Are we envious of others who seem more gifted than ourselves?

Whew- it can be exhausting when we are so concerned about what others think about us! It is so draining!!! Will others talk about us? Probably, but we can't control what others will say or do. And it takes up too much energy to try! We also don't want to become someone we aren't just so others will think well of us. It will become increasingly more and more difficult to keep all those balls in the air, giving everyone what they want! What a relief to put all the balls down and just be what God intended for you! We aren't the best in everyone's eyes but we are the apple of His Eye!! You are His Royal Child!!!

Heavenly King, we are so selfish, we want the world to revolve around us! Please forgive our arrogance! May we learn from Your Example and become servants! May everything we do be out of love, not for others to see!

What Happened With our Election??!!

A GREAT message from Dutch Sheets:

Greetings!

November 6, 2008

I feel certain that many in my stream of the Church want a statement from me concerning Tuesday's presidential election. I will be frank in my remarks but I do not, however, intend to vent anger or attack anyone. I have read several statements from friends and colleagues I respect very much.
Their thoughts are well stated and, for the most part, insightful. None of them, however, seem to want to say some things that I believe need to be said. I do not claim infallibility or to have the final word, but my convictions run deep and I believe I bear a God-given responsibility to share them.

Was This God's Will?

Was what happened Tuesday God's will? I am quite confident it was not. America was offered a very clear choice between moving further toward protecting the unborn or further away; between a Supreme Court that would move toward honoring God, life and morality or away from it. The stakes couldn't have been higher nor the cost greater. As a nation we put on blinders concerning Barak Obama's background, associations, beliefs and practices, and set these causes back years, possibly decades.
And in doing so we took another step away from God and His plans for America, and another step toward judgment.

Judgment Will Increase

This is not a fire and brimstone warning from an angry, legalistic preacher. In fact, I feel more sadness and grief than anything else.
Perhaps I feel what Jesus felt as He wept for Jerusalem while announcing its judgment. I am not hoping for judgment; I am saying it is inevitable. I don't know where the unbiblical belief comes from that says a nation can live any way it pleases, can reject God and His ways-even mock Him-and not receive His judgments. Nor do I know when the belief came that it is always mean-spirited or judgmental to warn of these things. To the contrary, I believe it is our responsibility.

In warning of judgment, I am not suggesting that God is going to intentially and directly hurt people. Much judgment is simply the absence of God's protection and provision, caused by a rejection of His laws and ways. We have been experiencing some forms of judgment in America for years, but God in His incredible patience and mercy has kept us from the level we've deserved. I believe this will change to a degree and judgment will now
increase:
For those in the Church who aligned themselves with pro-abortion forces, I believe judgment will result.
For leaders in the Body of Christ who refused to take a stand for fear of losing people, money, and tax-exempt status-I believe there will be a degree of judgment.
For those, both within the Church and without, who voted money over morality-a potential raise or better health insurance over the life of a baby-there will be judgment. (The irony is that this decision to base one's vote on the hopes of a better economy won't produce the hoped for result anyway. The scriptures teach that it is righteousness which exalts a nation and that the nation is blessed whose God is the Lord.)
I have heard the argument that God cares as much about social justice issues (such as poverty and racism) as He does abortion, making a vote for Obama OK. I certainly believe God puts a very high priority on caring for the poor and I, too, have wanted to see equality demonstrated through a "minority" president. But to equate having a better income or the desire for a first black president, regardless of his positions on abortion and morality, to the issue of killing 50 million babies is not justice-it is a gross distortion of justice and great deception. I fear that we have been desensitized to this issue of abortion. I believe it kills babies and takes innocent life. I also believe it is blood sacrifice that empowers demons. Let's not forget this in our noble attempts to be kind and conciliatory.
For African Americans I can easily see how it could bring healing to have a first black president, just as it would be for Native Americans to achieve this or for women if a woman were elected president. Again, I have wanted to see justice in this way. I am only saddened that the price for this healing ended up being Barak Obama, a man that will set the cause of life and, most-likely, our God-given destiny as a nation back so drastically. (I also realize there are some who interpret any criticism of Obama as racism. Racism is so NOT what I am about nor what I live, that I will not even dignify any such accusations with a response.)

What Can We Expect?

What are some of the judgments we can expect on our nation from this election?

More economic woes
More violence in an already violent nation
Disease and death (satan, who is responsible for these things will have greater inroads to our nation.)
Natural disasters (weather-tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, drought; fires; earthquakes; etc.)
Terrorism (they will fear us much less now)
War, perhaps on our own soil
Judgments relating to the Court. The stacking of the Supreme Court against the sanctity of life and God's influence on America will occur, which will in turn cause the shedding of more innocent blood, more rejection of God's laws and the stealing from us of our godly heritage-all of which will perpetuate a cycle of even more judgment.

How Did This Happen?

I've been asked if this could have been averted had there been more prayer. I'm not sure. I believe there was a remnant of Christians fervently praying over these elections-I don't think there was anything more they could have done. Others, obviously, should have done more. The complacency and lack of discernment concerning our real condition in America-especially by the Church-is both appalling and horrifying. America is in serious trouble and it seems no one wants to say it. Fewer still are willing to do anything to change it.

Though I understand our reasons, we must be careful in our attempts to placate our feelings and calm our fears through religious phrases like "God is still on the throne" or "God has a plan". He was on His throne 35 years and 50 million babies ago. And He had a plan back then. The problem is, it was us. I understand our reasons for waving high the banner of God's sovereignty at times like these-it gives us hope. I will wave it, as well.
But please be careful with this. Too much emphasis on God's sovereignty and we're worthless; too little and we're hopeless. Maybe we should say, "we lost a critical battle but God will give us strategy to win the war." Then find the strategy.

But still yet, since God is usually willing to work through a remnant, I thought we had enough prayer. Obviously, God decided otherwise. There comes a time when He will not forgive or bless the majority based on the prayers or actions of only a few. America rejected God and asked for a king; I believe we now have our Saul (see 1 Samuel 8:5-7)-a man who does not have God's heart for America but his own. Like Israel in scripture, our nation believes it can turn from God and still be blessed. In His mercy and justice He will show us otherwise.

Like many, believing I had many promises and confirmations that God would "grace" us with a pro-life president in this election, I failed to consider strongly enough that all promises-even scripture-are conditional 99.9% of the time. Though I never prophesied or made guarantees that McCain-Palin would win, failing to factor this principle in strongly enough no doubt caused me to share my optimism with others inappropriately. If this caused any harm or confusion, I apologize.

Has the fact that my prayers weren't answered shaken my faith? No. I'm a little confused and discouraged. I'm also somewhat angry at the nation in general and much of the Church. Mostly I'm grieving over the nation and what this will cost us. I am not, however, angry with God and do not question His justice. And it is not true that we wasted our time, energy and money in our efforts anymore than it is a waste when we share the gospel with people who don't get saved. We must keep in the forefront of our thinking the fact that ultimately we are doing this for Him and that He will reward us for our faithfulness. And who knows, perhaps He will store up all those prayers for the next battle (Revelation 5:8, 8:3-5).

A friend and fellow warrior said it well,

"We did 'give it our all.' I know the Lord was pleased with that. A coach wants to know one thing at the end of a heartbreaking sports loss: 'Did you leave it all on the field?' (your passion, your commitment, your strength, your courage, etc.) I know that we 'left it all on the field.' We didn't hold anything back until the game ended. Tragically, it ended in defeat. We will rise for another day because Jesus is worthy."

Where Do We Go from Here?

Does this election outcome shake my faith that we can see a great awakening and ultimately reformation in America? Absolutely not (and it strengthens my resolve). We will simply get there through greater pain and loss. Even my passion to see the Supreme Court shift is not from a presupposition that there can be no spiritual awakening without it. It is simply due to my deep conviction that their decisions bring so much death, destruction, curses and judgment to America; and because our full destiny as a nation is unquestionably linked to their decisions. So, yes, we will get an awakening and reformation; but the reality is that this reformation of the nation will reform the Supreme Court (and government, in general), not vice-versa. My faith has never been in people or a political party; my faith is in the God who works through them.

I've been asked if my feelings about Sarah Palin have changed. They have not. I believe she is an Esther, a Deborah, with a huge mantle from God for reformation. God has a great destiny for her related to this nation if she chooses to continue down this path.

So, in conclusion, we must re-group as an apostolic, praying church and advance. We must maintain an immovable faith in God, His plans for America and His mercy. And we must move beyond simply asking God for a spiritual awakening and ask Him for strategy to produce reformation, as well. I, for one, am just getting started!

For God and this great nation,
Dutch Sheets

True Fulfillment

Great study from Kim!

"I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil- this is the gift of God."
Ecclesiastes 3: 12-13

The key to happiness is finding CONTENTMENT in where you are and what you are doing! Our contentment comes from knowing God has a PURPOSE for each of our lives! There is a time for everything!!

As the Study Bible notes suggest, "...God's people find meaning in life when they cheerfully accept it from the hand of God."

We will never be content, have enough, or be satisfied if it were up to this world!! We will always long for MORE! We will always think....
... one more bite of chocolate will be enough,
... the next paycheck will bring us contentment,
...the next shopping spree will bring us satisfaction,
...the next night out, the next job, the next friend, .......

"Meaningless! Meaningless! says the teacher. Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless." Ecclesiastes 1: 2

Everything we do in this world is meaningless and we will never be content
UNLESS we have a PURPOSE and MEANING for what we do!!

God gives us, His Children, that purpose!
God has SO MUCH PLANNED for us!
God's Plans have an ENORMOUS amount of Meaning!
We find our FULFILLMENT through Christ!!!

Abba Father, we THANK You for giving our life meaning and incredible purpose!!!! Please use us as Your Vessels Father, so others may come to know You and Your Love!!

Please also be with us, Father, as we live in this self-centered world! We need Your Presence and Love in our every day lives to keep us focused and centered on what truly brings meaning into our lives! The sweet purpose of giving!!!!! Taking the focus OFF OURSELVES and ONTO OTHERS brings us more fulfillment than anything else! Thank You for being the ULTIMATE EXAMPLE of GIVING!!!

Give Thanks!

Great study from Kim!

"Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."
Colossians 3: 17

No matter what we do, no matter what happens to us, we are to GIVE THANKS to God our Father!! He makes everything bearable!! He turns everything into good for those who love Him!! (Rms. 8: 28)

Let us give thanks for....
...the abundance we have,
... the family and friends placed in our lives,
... the food and water we have daily,
... the roof over our head,
... the promise of the sun rising again tomorrow and new beginnings,
and let us, also, give thanks for....
... the muscles and joints that ache, it reminds us that we have a body that still functions,
... for loss of work, it gives us the opportunity to volunteer our time, let others help us
and to TURN to God and TRUST HIM in all things,
... our new President-elect (whether we voted for him or not) he needs our prayers!,
... the health issues we come up against and the limitations they bring which
cause us to fall to our knees,
... the loss of family members, it reminds us of what is waiting for
us, Paradise, and reunion with them!

WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR?

"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and AWE!" Hebrews 12: 28

"But thanks be to God! He gives us the VICTORY through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1Corinthians 15: 57

Our Heavenly King, so often we come to You ASKING for something, may we learn to BE THANKFUL first for ALL You have Blessed us with! To have a THANKFUL heart!

To look at the positive instead of the negative!

To be appreciative of all the LOVE You pour out on us each day!

To be Thankful for the HOPE You give us!!

To BOW DOWN before You for the VICTORY You have given us over Satan and death!

HELP US NOT TO LET THIS WORLD GET TO US Father!!! It is only this side of the clouds, we have SO MUCH MORE to LOOK FORWARD TO!!!!! THANK YOU!

Pray for a Move of God!

Great Reminder from Gabe:

I can't believe that I'm writing this and although yesterdays outcome was not what I had anticipated it is now our job as Christians to stand up and support our next president. We must honor him in our speech and pray for him. Dom said it best, but just think what would happen if God got a grip on his life but so many of us have dismissed that from our mind. Remember that we have seen many times like this in our country's history and we can prevail with the power of prayer!

This is our time and we must pray for a move of God on this country like never before and pray for the power of God to accompany this movement! John Bevere was talking to us on Sunday night at Dom's and he said that every major move of God was in times that mirror what could happen in the next 4 years!

It is now our time to change this country and world! You will not hear me speak against our leader again because God places all leaders in authority. If you do then please call me out on the carpet!

Ps 5:11-12
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. For you bless the godly, O LORD; you surround them with your shield of love.

Eternity In Our Hearts

A great Bible study from Kim:

Please know that what has been shared through this small and easy to read book called the "Epic" by John Eldredge - there is so much more. I encourage you to read it! You will be blessed!

"Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed by My Father, take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared of you since the creation of the world.'" Matthew 25: 34

God has set eternity in our hearts!!

"Even if you do manage to find a little taste of Eden in this life, even if you are one of the fortunate souls who finds some love and happiness in the world, you cannot hang on to it. You know this. Your health cannot hold out forever. Age will conquer you. One by one your friends and loved ones will slip from your hand. Your work will remain unfinished. Your time on this stage will come to an end. Like every other person gone before you, you will breathe your last breath. .............................
The final enemy is death. It will come. Is there no way out? Do we have a future?
Our Enemy is a thief, and of all the precious things he has stolen from our hearts, his worst act of treachery has been to steal our future from us."

"Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth." Isaiah 65: 17

"He who is seated on the throne said, 'I am making everything new!" Revelation 21: 5a

Paradise has been regained!!!
We have HOPE of BETTER things to come!!!!
Gold Streets will return!!!!
There is a Happy Ending to our story!!
Our Future is SECURE!!!
Eden has been restored!!!!!
ALLELUIA!!!!
The thief has not won!! He has not stolen our future!
The Wedding Banquet awaits!!!

Abba Father, Thank You for providing a way for us to be together with You FOREVER! Wow, what HOPE that brings us!! You have set before us life and death...we choose Life!!!! (Deuteronomy 30: 19) Life as it was always meant to be! You will restore Eden for us, in all of its beauty!!! It will be even better this time because we can never lose it again!!! Alleluia!!!! Praise to You, O' King!!!

"Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed by My Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world." Matthew 25: 34

THANK YOU Father for all the preparations You have made for us, Your Children! We look forward to life eternally with You! True Life!!! Life without pain and disappointment and lies!

Please continue to be with us as we live this side of the clouds Father! We need Your insight and wisdom as we make decisions today!!
May we be a vessel worth using Father!
In the Loving and Nourishing Name of Your Son, Jesus. Amen.

Keep on praying!!!

From a friend today:

This quote was emailed to me today and I thought how it reminded me of how Dutch Sheets explained the power of prayer....

"When nothing seems to help, I look at a stonecutter
hammering away at his rock, perhaps 100 times without as
much as a crack showing in it. Yet, at the 101st blow it
will split in two, and I know it was not that last blow
that did it, but all that had gone before."
-Jacob A. Riis

This is a great analogy to think of when it seems prayers are not being answered...

Undivided Heart

Great Bible study from Kim...

"Their hearts are always going astray." Hebrews 3: 10

With the heart God has blessed us with, He gives us the free will to reject Him!

"Good grief, why? He knows what free-willed creatures can do. He has already suffered one massive betrayal in the rebellion of the angels. He knows how we will use our freedom, what misery and suffering, what hell will be unleashed on earth because of our choices. WHY? Is He out of His mind?" (from the "Epic" written by John Eldredge)

God knows that without free will LOVE means NOTHING!!! How could it? If we don't have the freedom to choose, how can we love or hate? Having a choice means it is real!!!

So, God gives us the free will to love Him and others! He also gives us the free will not to love Him, to turn our back on Him!

We have the choice to turn TO God or turn AWAY from Him!!! What will your heart do?
Will your heart turn away from the only ONE who truly, unconditionally loves you?
Will your heart be given to someone other than Jesus?
Will it turn to the ways of the world?
Will it turn towards your selfish desires?
Or....
Will it turn to God and His Ways?
Will it turn to others and seek their needs?
Will your heart be available for whatever is needed?
Will your heart be open and ready to be used by our King?

Our Heavenly King, You have gifted us with a heart!!! A beautiful heart that is able to LOVE, to GIVE, and to NOURISH others!! Help us please Father not to let this heart go astray! Help us to keep it clean, right with You and focused on what is good and pure! May our hearts always be open to be used to bring more into Your Kingdom! Please watch over our hearts Father and use them to let others SEE YOU!!

A great inspiration posted on "Ro's" website:

The Test

The test of a man is the fight he makes
The grit that he daily shows;
The way he stands on his feet and takes
Fate's numerous bumps and blows.
A coward can smile when there's naught to fear,
When nothing his progress bars,
But it takes a man to stand up and cheer
While some other fellow stares.

It isn't the victory after all,
But the fight that a brother makes,
The man, who, driven against the wall,
Still stands up erect and takes
The blows of fate with his head held high
Bleeding and bruised and pale,
He's the man who'll win in the by and by,
For he isn't afraid to fail.

It's the bumps you get and the jolts you get
And the shocks that your courage stands,
The hours of sorrow and vain regret,
The prize that escapes your hands,
That test your mettle and prove your worth.
It isn't the blows you deal,
But the blows you take on this good, old earth
That shows if your stuff is real.

When I was a child, I was told the story of the Martin-Willie Handcart Pioneer Company. Because they were so anxious to leave for the west, they left a little later in the season than they should have. When they got to Wyoming, unseasonably early snowstorms hit them. Because they were traveling with handcarts rather than wagons and teams, they were overly exposed to the elements and many died under the harsh conditions.

The teacher who was recounting the story to our class told us how important it had been for the pioneers to keep walking. If they gave up and sat down in the deep snow, they froze to death. Even though I was fairly young, I was struck by how hard it must have been for them to continue walking in the deep snow and how much courage they had displayed in their adversity. I remember thinking, “I wonder if I would have kept going. Or, would I have sat down in the snow?”

I have thought about that story over the years, as I have faced trials of my own. I don't want to sit down in the snow, even though it would be so much easier for me to do so. It is important for me to summon the courage inside of me - the grit - the moxie – the drive - to somehow keep myself moving forward, no matter how many challenges keep rolling my way.

I must admit to you that it is hard, sometimes, to keep walking. The temptation to sit down in the snow and rest awhile is overwhelming. It is difficult to keep moving forward when you feel as if the blows are coming at you from every side and you wonder when they will stop – or if they will stop at all.

If you happen to be experiencing such a situation at the moment, just let me say that you are not alone in the fight. There are others like you – many, many others, including myself – that are in the world, getting up each day, wondering how they will manage to continue and, despite the pain and the suffering they know, they keep going. They keep moving and just the act of continuing speaks volumes about them and the hope and faith and courage they own. It is the trying that is meaningful.

To keep moving under such circumstances is heroic (and actually feels heroic, as it is so difficult), and I believe that it is those people who continue the fight, despite financial, social, physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges, that are to be admired.

Do you know what happened to the Martin-Willie Handcart Company? Word finally arrived in Salt Lake City of their terrible circumstances and a rescue party was immediately sent out to save them. They were discovered on the far side of a river and one young man, who was determined to save as many lives as possible, carried people over that river repeatedly. He ended up getting so sick that he died. He was a true hero.

The survivors of the Martin-Willie Handcart Company were strong people and their children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren have derived much strength from their story of endurance. In fact, their story has provided inspiration for nearly anyone who has ever heard it. They could have so easily taken the easy way out and sat down in the snow, and yet they kept moving forward with hope and faith that they would arrive at their destination.

If you happen to know someone who is facing such challenges, reach out to them. Tell them that you are hoping for them, that you are praying for them, that you love them, and that you have faith in them. And, mean it. Do pray for them. Do love them. Do have faith in them. And, do support them in any way that you can.

You never know when it will be your turn to be hip deep in snow. You never know when you will wish for a rescue party to be sent for you.

Just please, whether a rescue party arrives or whether you have to keep going with just God by your side, don't sit down, okay? Keep moving. Just keep moving.

Before It's Too Late...

Obama is not about to rethink anything. He is too sure of the "rightness" of his own ideas and thinking. But, some others don't agree. For example:

Hymn to Hitler
By
Lori Kalner

In Germany , when Hitler came to power, it was a time of terrible financial depression. Money was worth nothing. In Germany people lost homes and jobs, just like in the American Depression in the 1930s, which we have read about in Thoene’s Shiloh books.

In those days, in my homeland, Adolph Hitler was elected to power by promising "Change.” He blamed the “Zionists” around the world for all our problems. He told everyone it was greedy Zionist Bankers who had caused every problem we had. He promised when he was leader, the greedy Zionist bankers would be punished. The Zionists, he promised, would be wiped off the face of the earth.

So Hitler was elected to power by only 1/3 the popular vote. A coalition of other political parties in parliament made him supreme leader. Then, when he was leader, he disgraced and expelled everyone in parliament who did not go along with him.

Yes. Change came to my homeland as the new leader promised it would.

The teachers in German schools began to teach the children to sing songs in praise of Hitler. This was the beginning of the Hitler Youth movement. It began with praise of the Fuhrer’s programs on the lips of innocent children. Hymns in praise of Hitler and his programs were being sung in the schoolrooms and in the playyard. Little girls and boys joined hands and sang these songs as they walked home from school.

My brother came home and told Papa what was happening at school. The political hymns of children proclaimed Change was coming to our homeland and the Fuhrer was a leader we could trust.

I will never forget my father’s face. Grief and fear. He knew that the best propaganda of the Nazis was song on the lips of little children.

That evening before he said grace at the dinner table, he placed his hands upon the heads of my brothers and me and prayed the Living Word upon us from Jeremiah 1:4-5…

‘Now the Word of the Lord came to me, saying,
“Before I formed you in the
Womb I knew you,
And before you were born I
Consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to
The nations.”

Soon the children’s songs praising the Fuhrer were heard everywhere on the streets and over the radio. “With our Fuhrer to lead us, we can do it! We can change the world!”

Soon after that Papa, a pastor, was turned away from visiting elderly parishioners in hospitals. The people he had come to bring comfort of God’s Word, were “no longer there.”

Where had they vanished to while under nationalized health care? It became an open secret. The elderly and sick began to disappear from hospitals feet first as “mercy killing” became the policy. Children with disabilities and those who had Down syndrome were euthanized.

People whispered, “Maybe it is better for them now. Put them out of misery. They are no longer suffering…And, of course, their death is better for the treasury of our nation. Our taxes no longer must be spent to care for such a burden.”
And so murder was called mercy.

The government took over private business. Industry and health care were “nationalized.” (NA-ZI means National Socialist Party) The businesses of all Jews were seized. (Perhaps you remember our story in Berlin on Krystalnacht in the book Munich Signature)

The world and God’s word were turned upside down. Hitler promised the people economic Change?
Not change. It was, rather, Lucifer’s very ancient Delusion leading to Destruction.

What began with the propaganda of children singing a catchy tune ended in the deaths of millions of children. The reality of what came upon us is so horrible that you in this present generation cannot imagine it.

Our suffering is too great to ever tell in a book or show in a black and white newsreel.

When I spoke to Bodie about some of these things, she wept and said she could not bear to write them. Perhaps one day she will, but I asked her, “who could bear to read our suffering?”

Yet with my last breaths I warn every Christian and Jew now in the name of the Lord, unless your course of the church in America is spiritually changed now, returning to the Lord, there are new horrors yet to come.

I trembled last night when I heard the voices of American children raised in song, praising the name of Obama, the charismatic fellow who claims he is the American Messiah.

Yet I have heard what this man Obama says about abortion and the “mercy killing” of tiny babies who are not wanted.

There are so few of us left to warn you.

I have heard that there are 69 million Catholics in America and 70 million Evangelical Christians.

Where are your voices? Where is your outrage? Where is passion and your vote? Do you vote based on an abortionist’s empty promises and economics? Or do you vote according to the Bible?

Thus says the Lord about every living child still in the womb…

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you…”

I have experienced the signs of the politics of Death in my youth. I see them again now.

Christians! Unless you stand up now, you will lose your freedom of religion.

In America priests and preachers have already lost their freedom to speak openly from their pulpits of moral danger in political candidates. They cannot legally instruct you of which candidate holds fast to the precepts of scripture! American law forbids this freedom of speech to conservative pastors or they will lose their “tax exempt” status.

And yet I have heard the words of Obama’s pastor Damning America! I have heard the words of Obama damning and mocking all of you in small towns because you “Cling to your religion…”

But I am a woman whose name is unknown. My life is recorded as a work of fiction. I have no fear of reprisal when I speak truth to you from the pages of a book. (Though the Zion Covenant books are mocked and condemned by the Left in America ..)

I am an old woman and will soon go to be with my Lord. I have no fear for myself, but for all of you and for your children, I tremble.

I tremble at the hymns to a political leaders which your children will sing at school. (Though even now a hymn or a prayer to God and our Lord Jesus is against the law in public school!)

Your vote must put a stop to what will come upon America if Barrack Obama is elected.

I pray you will personally heed this warning for the sake of your children and your grandchildren. Do not be deceived. The Lord in Jeremiah 1:7-8 commands every believer to speak up!

“Do not say, ‘I am only a youth,’ for to all whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them for I am with you, declares the Lord!”

I am in Prayer for you, and for the Church!
Spoken to you in the authority of Jesus the Christ,
the Name Above All Names,
Lori Kalner http://www.thoenebooks.com/blog.asp?post=0&id=443#

Evil!

A great study from Kim!

In the midst of all that is good and pure...EVIL ENTERS!!!

"And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he (dragon) was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down- that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
Therefore rejoice, you heavens
and you who dwell in them!
But woe to the earth and the sea,
because the devil has gone down to you!
He is filled with fury,
because he knows that his time is short."
Revelation 12: 7-9, 12

We are not alone! The story we are in is not as safe as we think it is! The villian has arrived! We need to be more aware of the unseen! It is dangerous!

WATCH OUT!!! We have an evil angel lurking after us!
He was at God's right hand, an anointed guardian cherub who "was blameless in his ways until wickedness was found in him!" (Ezekiel 28: 15)

He wanted it ALL! (and still does!)
He wants to BE God!
He wants everything to be about him!! (sound familiar?)
He was thrown out of heaven and is "filled with fury"!
He knows he is on a fixed time limit!
He wants to take as many as possible with him into eternal damnation!!
So, WATCH OUT, he is on a mission for our soul!!

Are you SCARED? You should be!!
Do you feel HOPELESS against him?? We don't have to be!

Because Satan, Lucifer, has already been DEFEATED!!! Alleluia!!!!!
God's got our back! Let us be careful NOT to turn our back on Him!!!!!!!

Should we still be ALERT? ALWAYS!!!!
Should we BE PREPARED? We better be!
Our Heavenly Father gives us all the tools- Eph.6: 13-18, Putting on the full Armor of God!

Our Savior, we come to You in prayer, not only because we love being in Your Presence, but also because being in communion with You gives us STRENGTH against the evil one!!

We are bombarded by the ways of the world, the way they are so enticing and the way they sneak into our everyday lives that we can easily forget Your Ways and how much better they are for us!

A Love that Never

Great Bible study from Kim!

"Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, and to see My glory, the glory you have given Me because You LOVED ME before the creation of the world." John 17: 24

There is a huge amount of our story that happened even before we were created! God's LOVE for us started "before the creation of the world!" Through God we know that love is real, that it endures, and that we can count on it!!

As it says in the book, Epic, written by John Eldredge, "we need to know that love lasts! The reason divorce is so devastating to children (not to mention grownups) is because it ends the story. Just like that. The past is lost. The future is uncertain. The pictures come down off the walls. Certain names are never mentioned again. The love story is over. You can't count on anything."

We start questioning love, its lasting power and if it is really real! Our relationships are terminated or changed! What devastation to the creatures who were made for relationships!
Our greatest joys are shared with the ones we love!!! Whether it be taking a walk, sharing a conversation, enjoying the sounds of the ocean, the laughter of a child/grandchild, .... these are the best times because they are shared!

"That is why the self-centered life simply does not work. The world is rigged in such a way that life does not work when it's all about you." (Epic)

God's Love LASTS!!!! We came from Love!! We were born out of Love! God's Love never fails!!! THANK YOU LORD for that TRUTH!!! Your Everlasting LOVE for us!!

The Joy of Fellowship

A great study from Kim...

"Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, ..." Genesis 1: 26a

I never noticed the word "our" before in this passage. I just remember that we were made in God's image, but really it goes farther than that, we were created in the image of the Trinity. God was not alone, He was (and still is) part of a relationship! We were created out of relationship for relationship!

Many of us at church are reading a small book entitled, "Epic- The Story God is Telling" by John Eldredge and I will be sharing some of John's thoughts with you this week.

"One of the deepest of all human longings is the longing to belong, to be a part of things, to be invited in. We want to be part of the fellowship....

...Loneliness might be the hardest cross we bear. Why else would we have come up with solitary confinement as a form of punishment? We are relational to the core. We are made, as it says in Genesis, in the image of God or, better, in the image of the Trinity.
("...make man in OUR image, OUR likeness...")

From the heart of the universe come our beating hearts. From this Fellowship spring all of our longings for a friend, a family, a fellowship- for someplace to belong."

Our Heavenly Father, Sweet Jesus, and Holy Spirit, we Thank You for making us in Your Image, for making us a part of Your family, for creating us to be Your Child!! What Joy and Love that brings to us!! What Peace and Contentment it encompasses us with! Thank You for the most important and vital relationship we have- the one with You!!

We also Thank You for the family and friends You have placed in our lives! These relationships bring us such Joy but also, in this sinful world, much pain and heartache! But, we need these relationships, our hearts long to have others to love and to love us!

Please forgive us Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for the PAIN, heartache and frustration we cause You each and every day when we turn away from You! Please give us the wisdom to know when the evil one is trying to trick us with lies and/or when our selfish selves get in the way of our relationship with You!!

We Joyfully come before You in the Mighty Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ. Amen.

Pay it OFF!

Hi everyone, this is a little unusual for a "Collegiate Wonders" typical Bible study, but this is VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION for your generation right now.

Please understand: DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT charge one PENNY on any "extras" until you are debt-free! Yes, that means no extra CLOTHES, no extra TRIPS, no extra "deserved" VACATIONS, no extra ANYTHING. No extra $5 items nor $10.

THIS is the way my husband Gary and I got ahead. We followed scriptural principles TO A "T" on not borrowing money or charging. At times we lived on RICE and hamburger for more than a week. We made do with one car. We bought NO CLOTHES, and CERTAINLY would NEVER have considered buying a purse OR dress OR extra shirt over $10!!

Your generation is in for a HUGE AWAKENING this next upcoming year. My husband and I want to tell you: GET RID OF ANY DEBT THAT WILL NOT ENABLE YOU TO BE IN CONTROL OF YOUR OWN FINANCES. The borrower WILL serve the lender! You will CONTINUALLY SEE people that (sometimes innocently and misguidedly) lived beyond their means now paying HUGE CONSEQUENCES and losing everything. In fact some people that lived WITHIN THEIR MEANS are losing everything!

Here are some ideas:

*STOP buying! STOP going out to eat! STOP planning trips!
*STOP living like movie stars do! STOP buying exorbitantly priced items!
*PARE down everything you can pare down.
*If you had to go into debt for something, don't just think "I'm just adding a LITTLE more to my debt." Read the article below about "COMPOUNDING INTEREST" and see what that is going to mean if you keep ADDING to your debt!
*Live on as LITTLE OUTLAY as possible and save as MUCH MONEY as possible.
*PAY OFF as much debt as possible -- even $5 here and $5 there will ADD UP and STOP compounding interest!
*Start saving as MUCH as POSSIBLE in as many ways as possible.
*Cut down on monthly bills. DO WITHOUT anything you can do without until you are debt free!!!!

We have been virtually AROUND THE WORLD. The economic CRISES has affected every nation. We are in Palm Desert right now going by stores closed down, and empty businesses. The economic crunch is JUST ON THE FIRST ROUND of a multi-round fight! Any money you borrow now will threaten your financial security later.

Your generation MUST DO WITH MUCH LESS in order to make it through. Do not live "ABOVE YOUR MEANS." How do you live "above your means"? By living on someone else's cash? How do you live on someone else's cash? If you owe ANY AMOUNT of MONEY for ANY THING and you purchase something -- you are NOT purchasing it with YOUR OWN MONEY but with BORROWED FUNDS (and DON'T get caught up in "good debt" or "bad debt" -- ALL DEBT IS BAD according to Scripture because it ROBS you of your financial FREEDOM).

IF any of you need any help in budgeting your money, my husband will be GLAD to help you. It is imperative that you work a solution to get out of debt NOW. SERIOUS times are coming in the next year to three years. Only if you are living by this Biblical standard will you make it through the financial storm that is only just now heading our way!

I love you guys! Please ask for help to get a plan to repay if you have a lot of outstanding debt. Please take this to heart!

The Center of the Bible

The Center of the Bible
The pictures are awesome.... but wait until you read the words.

Q: What is the shortest chapter in the Bible?

A: Psalms 117

Q: What is the longest chapter in the Bible?

A: Psalms 119

Q: Which chapter is in the center of the Bible?

A: Psalms 118

Fact: There are 594 chapters before Psalms 118

Fact: There are 594 chapters after Psalms 118

Add these numbers up and you get 1188..

Q: What is the center verse in the Bible?

A: Psalms 118:8

Q: Does this verse say something significant about God's perfect will for our lives?

The next time someone says they would like to find

God's perfect will for their lives and that they want to

be in the center of His will, just send them to the

center of His Word!

Psalms 118:8

'It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.'

Now isn't that odd how this worked out (or was God in the center of it)?

When things get tough, always remember...

Faith doesn't get you around trouble, it gets you through it !!

Pride -- the enemy of humility!

Great study from Kim!

"Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splender." Ezekiel 28: 15a

Lucifer's heart became proud!!! We can learn much about ourselves from his actions and story....

From the book "Epic"-
"Standing at the head of the vast legions of angelic hosts (millions, as the biblical record counts) was a captian. The most beautiful, the most powerful of them all. The commander of the armies of God. The guardian of the glory of the Lord. His name was Lucifer. "Son of the morning." Glorious as the sun, Unequaled among his noble peers."

WOW! He had it all- beauty, power, and respect!!! Unbelievably, HE WANTED MORE!! He wanted to be the ultimate ruler! He wanted all the recognition! Sound like anyone else we know? Always wanting more than we already have? Never having enough? And to think we already have...
...Salvation,
... Forgiveness of sins,
... His Love,
... His Joy and Peace,
... HOPE,
... through Him, we have Contentment,
... we have the King of Kings fighting for us,
... and many Blessings LAVISHED upon us each and every day!!!

C.S. Lewis writes, "Of all bad men religious bad men are the worst. Of all created beings the wickedest is one who originally stood in the immediate presence of God."

As a child of the King, do we demand more? Do we live as if we have nothing? Whoa, what does that say to the world? It says we are selfish! It says God is not enough!

Almighty One, prayerfully, the countless gifts You lavish upon us daily will not make us proud, better than everyone else and deserving more but THANKFUL for ALL You have freely given us! May we always appreciate Your gifts, being content with all You have lovingly poured out on us!

Anger!!!

A great study from Kim:

"Do NOT be quickly provoked in your spirit, for ANGER resides in the lap of fools."
Ecclesiastes 7: 9

Anger!!! It eventually causes bitterness!
Bitterness ROBS us of our JOY!!!!
EATS AWAY at our spirit!
and does NOT come from God!!!!

God tells us "NOT to be provoked quickly!!"
Even when...
... someone cuts us off on the road! ... someone yells at us!! ... we find out others are talking about us behind our back! ... we are wrongly accused!! Even when...............

WHERE does ANGER and BITTERNESS GET US??
It doesn't solve anything!!!
It doesn't turn back time!!!

Only through Christ are we able to GIVE IT UP!
Only through Christ are we able to FORGIVE!!
Only through Christ are we able to be WISE and LET IT GO!!

Let us remember that there is also GOOD anger! Even Jesus got angry when "He found men selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money..... To those who sold doves He said, 'Get out of here! How dare you turn My Father's house into a market!!" John 2: 14 and 16
Our anger is justified when someone aborts an innocent child,
....when a loved one is abused,
... when someone abuses alcohol and harms another,
or when............

BUT, the question is what do we DO WITH that anger?? Do we get even? Do we harbor anger for the rest of our lives? Are we a FOOL? (as it says in our Scripture)
Do we take positive and loving action? Do we forgive and move on?
Are we wise in our actions?

Author of Life, please help us in our anger, help us to hold our tongue and restrain from any action BEFORE we say or do anything we will regret and/or turn someone away from You!!
Withholding anger only takes us out of Your Presence Father!! Please help us to constructively deal with it and let it go!

You WARN us NOT to be quickly provoked- not to act on our own sinful desires!!
You know us so well Father!!!
You know how selfish we are!!!
How much we would love to get even at any expense!!!!
How WE want to right the wrong!!!
Take it into our own hands!!
We ask for Your Holy Spirit to CHANGE US Lord, to HELP us respond in a way that brings others closer to You and not to push them away!!!! May they SEE YOU and Your Love Father instead of seeing us and our natural inclination to get even!!

If you are going to boast, boast in the Lord!

Thanks to Kim for another great study...

"Let another praise you, and not your own mouth;
someone else, and not your own lips." Proverbs 27: 2

"We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise." 2 Corinthians 10: 12

We like to toot our own horn!
We want others to know what a great job we've done!
We like when others praise our good deeds!

Study Bible notes for 2 Cor.10:12 are, "The false teachers in Corinth behave as though there is no standard of comparison higher than themselves, but Paul BOASTS ONLY IN THE LORD!!!!!!!!"

Instead of tooting our own horn, let us TOOT GOD"S HORN!!!
Let us shout from the roof tops!
Let us openly share His Love!!
Let us GLORIFY HIM!!!!!

"But, 'Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.'" 2 Corinthians 10: 17

Our Heavenly King, help us to DECREASE while YOU INCREASE!!! Let that be our simple prayer every day!!

Ch- Ch- Ch- Ch- Changes! Turn & face the strange!

During the 1980’s, Gary and I lived in the great state of Oklahoma for two and a half years. He was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base while I completed my Bachelor’s of Music Education at the University of Oklahoma. We truly loved it in Oklahoma because Oklahomans are some of the friendliest people we’ve ever met.
I have to admit that because I am from Utah where weather changes occur in an expected manner, the fickleness of Oklahoma weather unnerved me at first. I should have realized what it would be like when the realtor that helped us find our first apartment said, “If you don’t like the weather, wait a little bit. It will change.”

Yes, the weather changed. In fact, it changed so rapidly that I quickly learned to carry an umbrella with me everywhere I went.

I learned that changes in the weather are appreciated in Oklahoma. Umbrellas are required because one never knows when a rainstorm will arrive. But, rainstorms are the lifeblood of the area and so they are welcomed. The people there don’t rely on irrigation to water their lawns and agriculture, as we do in Utah. Oklahoma relies on rain and when a drought hits the state, it is a serious matter.

As I began to appreciate this fact, I realized that, sometimes, events that appear at first glance to be negative are actually blessings. Sure, it is a terrible thing when a tornado rolls up Oklahoma. People are rightfully afraid of them. But, it is the same volatility of the weather that sometimes spawns hailstones and tornados that brings great, soaking rainstorms to make the state green.

Isn’t this how our lives are? The stormy times in our lives bring forth the most fruit. While we don’t enjoy life-tornados, the whirling about straightens us out. Illness teaches us to appreciate good health. Financial storms teach us to celebrate times of plenty. When we lose love or friendship, we begin to understand how valuable relationships are. When we suffer, we gain compassion for others, losing judgmental feelings that separate us from our true selves. When we face the limits of mortality, we appreciate the fact that our lives are meaningful.

The funny thing about change is that when we stop trying to keep ourselves still, we open the door to deep, meaningful improvements in our lives. We begin to understand that everything in this life is transitory. We discover that if we don’t like the weather of our current experience, we just be patient because just as surely as the moon spins around the earth, change will arrive to thrust us into something new.

Sometimes, I dream that I am still in Oklahoma, listening to the sound of a thunderstorm roll across the state. But then, I wake up and realize that it was the sound of change rolling through my life that I heard in my ears.

What will happen next? Only God knows. But whatever might come, it will be a change. Change... something you can count on.

Strength to the Weary!

Thanks, Kim, for the great study!

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak." Isaiah 40: 29a

(We'll look at the first half of this verse today)
What are you weary from? watching the fall of the stock market? ..... being unable to find a job and security? ..... watching the deterioration of a relationship? ..... the ever constant needs of your toddlers? ..... trying to direct your teenager? ..... being over extended at work? (sometimes He gives us the wisdom to change our situation) ..... taking care of an ailing parent? ..... keeping track of the lies we've told? ..... Are you WEARY? Are you just plain tired from it all?

Our Creator KNEW we would become weary and offers us HIS STRENGTH!!!!
Strength to get up in the morning, strength to persevere, and strength to turn to Him away from the wicked ways we get entrapped in during this life on earth!

God WILL give us strength to face it all!! Really, He will and does!!!

Let us remember....
We don't have to continue on our OWN STRENGTH!
We don't have to DEPEND on OUR OWN POWER to get us through!
We are NOT in this ALONE!
We have STRONG and LOVING ARMS we can fall into!!!
God can and WILL Strengthen us when we are weary!!!

Abba Father, Your children come to You tired and heavy burdened! We seek refuge in the shadows of Your Wings and in the protection of Your Arms! You offer to take our heavy yoke and give us Your easy and light one- we are so Thankful!

Watch OUT!

Thanks to Kim for a strong and needed Word.... this is so confirmed in my spirit!

God's Word encourages, comforts, brings us peace, displays His Love for us but it also WARNS us and makes sure we are AWARE of what we are up against......

WATCH OUT!!! We have an evil angel lurking after us!
He was at God's right hand, an anointed guardian cherub who "was blameless in his ways until wickedness was found in him!" (Ezekiel 28: 15)
He wanted it ALL! (and still does!)
He wants to BE God!
He wants everything to be about him!! (sound familiar?)
He was thrown out of heaven and is "filled with fury"!
He knows he is on a fixed time limit!
He wants to take as many as possible with him into eternal damnation!!
So, WATCH OUT, he is on a mission for your soul!!

Are you SCARED? You should be!!
Do you feel HOPELESS against him?? You don't have to be!

Our Heavenly Father gives us all the tools!!
(Ephesians 6: 13-18, Putting on the full Armor of God!)

Thank You Father for taking such GREAT CARE of us!

In these uncertain times Father, we are comforted by the fact that YOU ARE THE SAME today as You were yesterday and will be tomorrow!!

In Jesus' POWERFUL Name we come to You. Amen.
