Revival Can't Come Through Pharisees' Hearts Bible Verses

We need to fill our hearts and minds with God's message on how to love if revival can come through us! We need to see how the Lord continually draws and loves and sees what He wants to do with those who have fallen… the Davids after they commit adultery and murder while on the throne professing God, the Josephs with their broken dreams in prison falsely accused, the Jacobs grasping for all they can get until they wrestle with God…

In my previous blog, I wrote on how Revival Can't Come Through Pharisees' Hearts. Here are some Bible verses to emphasize and learn about how to LOVE: print these verses out; proclaim them; memorize them; LIVE them out through the power of God, and let’s show the world a REvival of what God wants to do through our REstored RElationship with Him that results in REdemption and REconciliation of others!

I give you a new commandment: that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another. By this shall all [men] know that you are My disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among yourselves]. (John 13:34-35)

This is My commandment: that you love one another [just] as I have loved you. (John 15.12)

This is what I command you: that you love one another. (John 15.17)

Love one another with brotherly affection [as members of one family], giving precedence and showing honor to one another.  (Romans 12.10)

Keep out of debt and owe no man anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor [who practices loving others] has fulfilled the Law [relating to one’s fellowmen, meeting all its requirements].  (Romans 13.8)

For you, brethren, were [indeed] called to freedom; only [do not let your] freedom be an incentive to your flesh and an opportunity or excuse [for selfishness], but through love you should serve one another.  (Galatians 5.13)

Living as becomes you] with complete lowliness of mind (humility) and meekness (unselfishness, gentleness, mildness), with patience, bearing with one another and making allowances because you love one another.  (Ephesians 4.2)

And may the Lord make you to increase and excel and overflow in love for one another and for all people, just as we also do for you,…  (1 Thessalonians 3.12)

But concerning brotherly love [for all other Christians], you have no need to have anyone write you, for you yourselves have been [personally] taught by God to love one another.  (1 Thessalonians 4.9)

And let us consider and give aattentive, continuous care to watching over one another, studying how we may stir up (stimulate and incite) to love and helpful deeds and noble activities, (Hebrews 10.24)

Since by your obedience to the Truth through the [Holy ] Spirit you have purified your hearts for the sincere affection of the brethren, [see that you] love one another fervently from a pure heart.  (1 Peter 1.22)

Finally, all [of you] should be of one and the same mind (united in spirit), sympathizing [with one another], loving [each other] as brethren [of one household], compassionate and courteous (tenderhearted and humble).  (1 Peter 3.8)

For this is the message (the announcement) which you have heard from the first, that we should love one another,… And this is His order (His command, His injunction): that we should believe in (put our faith and trust in and adhere to and rely on) the name of His Son Jesus Christ (the Messiah), and that we should love one another, just as He has commanded us. (1 John 3.11, 3.23)

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is (springs) from God; and he who loves [his fellowmen] is begotten (born) of God and is coming [progressively] to know and understand God [to perceive and recognize and get a better and clearer knowledge of Him]. 1 John 4:7

Beloved, if God loved us so [very much], we also ought to love one another.  No man has at any time [yet] seen God. But if we love one another, God abides (lives and remains) in us and His love (that love which is essentially His) is brought to completion (to its full maturity, runs its full course, is perfected) in us! 1 John 4:11-12

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:  And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. Eph. 4:31-32

For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:  But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matt. 6:14-15

Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.  If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.   Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.  Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.  Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.  Romans 12.17-21

And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. Mark 11.25

Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.  Leviticus 19.18

The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.  Proverbs 19.11

Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye. (Matthew 7.1-5)

Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?  Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. (Matthew 18.21-22)

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.  (Colossians 3.13)

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.  (Romans 12.19)

But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.  For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.  So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.  (Romans 14.10-12)

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;  Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.  And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.  (Colossians 3.12-14)

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. (Matthew 5.7)

Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.  12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?  (James 4.11-12)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.  (Galatians 5.22-23)

1 Cor. 13 – the “love” chapter—shows how to love when up against ADVERSITY (why would you have to be reminded to be LONGsuffering or hope and believe the best, etc. unless the opposite is likely?!  These admonishments are all demonstrated when it is DIFFICULT or nearly IMPOSSIBLE to love except through Christ!) Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.  And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.  And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,  Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;  Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.  For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.  But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.   When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.  For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.  And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye. (Luke 6.32-42)

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.  (1 Peter 4.8)

We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.  (Romans 15.1-2)

And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.  And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?  But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Matthew 9.10-13)

Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. (Romans 14.1)

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5.43-48)

Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.  But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.  And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? (Romans 2.1-4)

We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.  (1 John 3.14)

So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.  For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. (James 2.12-13)

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. (Matthew 7.12)

Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.  Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. (Philippians 2.2-4)

He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.  He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.  But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.  (1 John 2.9-11)

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?  And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.  (1 John 4.20-21)

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.  For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.  (Romans 13.8-10)

When we love rightly, God first then others, the whole law if fulfilled. But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.  Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,  Master, which is the great commandment in the law?  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (Matthew 22.34-40)

Revival Can’t Come Through Pharisees' Hearts

We are accepted in the beloved, redeemed,, ransomed and called by His Name. Jesus then puts HIS righteousness on us so that we can have a relationship with Him. He sees us through HIS righteousness.

That same righteousness equips us to see others the way HE sees them, and love them the way HE loved us! He doesn’t discount us because we fall, He doesn’t see us as failures but He sees our potentials, He sees us through His righteousness.

His righteousness is what equips us not only to have the right relationship with Him but to have the right relationship with others. We don’t impute their sin to them, but proclaim the truth that Romans 8.38-39 tells us, For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

As Christ did as He walked, we can be mocked for loving the tax collector and sinner,  because we know that God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us. (Romans 5.8 AMP)

Before His righteousness sin blocked the way of our relationships with God and others. Because He took sin to the cross, we no longer need to hold people hostage for their sins, for what we need to receive from them (for we have all in Christ – He provides our needs according to His riches!), for how they fall short (ALL have sinned and come short of His glory! Romans 3.23).

In fact “love covers all offenses,” (Proverbs 10.12 – not only ours in the Lord’s sight, but others offenses are covered by US, thus covering OUR potential offenses against them as well!)

We KNOW the power of those “re-“ words I love so much: REstoration, REnewal, REvival, REfreshment, REconciliation, REpentence, REdemption, REformation, REcover, REvelation!!!!!  We were there and we know what we REceived and we have been committed the MINISTRY of REconciliation!

In other words, God was using Christ to restore his relationship with humanity. He didn’t hold people’s faults against them, and he has given us this message of restored relationships to tell others. (2 Corinthians 5:19 GWORD)

In Luke 15.11-32 we know the parable of the “prodigal son.” There are three main people in the parable: the father, the prodigal son, and the older son. To me, there are a few things that go without saying in the parable that God wants to show us:
  • ·      There are many who “waste” their inheritance and live contrary to the will of the Father and choose the pig sty despite their ability to live in the palace.
  • ·      The Father’s love is constant; He is waiting at the door for His son’s return. He gives the son his free will.

The part of the parable that concerns me with REvival is when the prodigal returns, the older brother doesn’t want to attend the celebration. In REvival, it is important that the “older brothers” that have continued to do the Father’s will, and have not “recklessly” and “loose from restraint” “wasted” their inheritance, are not able to celebrate when the prodigals “come to themselves” to come back to the Father. He piously states how he has obeyed and yet nothing “special” was done for him.  Hear the Father’s Word: “Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. But it is fitting to make merry, to revel and feast and rejoice, for this brother of yours was dead and is alive again! He was lost and is found!” If we are going to see REvival, we need to have the heart of the older brother—one with the Father knowing that all He has we have been given, especially His heart to rejoice when the lost are found and to REjoice with the heart of the Father! We older brothers need to get beyond what the Father can GIVE us to what we can do FOR and WITH the Father! As long as we are living the “God for me” baby mentality, we will never get to the maturity of “me for God”… what can I do for HIM not what He can do for me. And that will get us back to what God has us to be doing—drawing, loving and celebrating the return of the prodigals.

Let us fill our hearts and minds with His message on how to love!

In a separate blog, I will put some Bible verses to print: proclaim them; memorize them; LIVE them out through the power of God, and let’s show the world a REvival of what God wants to do through our REstored RElationship with Him that results in REdemption and REconciliation of others!
